Remembering Jack Schell, The Soundweaver

“When I remember what I came here for, to bring you happiness and joy”  — Jack Schell
August 13, 1959 – June 10, 2018 ~
May his song resound eternal

Jack Schell, The Soundweaver, was the kind of musician that most of us can’t even comprehend. I mean it. He wasn’t in the game for glory, or riches, or recognition. Rather, he was in it because he believed that music has the ability to change the world for the better. He made music to uplift our spirits, expand our minds, and heal our souls.

Jack often composed music inspired by the creative work of his friends, including the Oneshi Press team. He composed the song above when he learned about me and the graphic novel that they’re making about me. It’s called “Sleeze,” and even though I didn’t make it, I’m super freaking proud of it. I mean, my story was enough to inspire this gorgeous, inspired piece of music in someone who didn’t even know me? What a huge honor.

It’s even more of an honor that it was composed by a musician whose work will continue to inspire the Oneshi Press team and their fans and readers for a long time to come. His compositions appear will appear in numerous Oneshi Press videos and eventually more, as well as on the live-stream where Jayel Draco already plays much of Jack’s work as part of his typical soundtrack.

Jack passed away earlier this week due to complications from liver cancer. But he lives on with every one of his songs; they’ll be played again and again. Thanks, Jack.
